BELL COMMUNITY CENTER - INFORMATION

Hello dears,
Finally! Here is the information about City of Bell Community Center.
They do not have a working web page, so no photos. But we have been there and its nice, also close by. I have uploaded their fee chart here:
Bell Community Center
take a look, it seems affordable to me. I think within budget. They allow alcoholic beverages.

I have added a comments option at the bottom of the posts, in case you guys want to have some input, or you know, questions or what have you...

Los Amigos - Follow up

So, I went to Los Amigos Country Club today and it made me remember something Walter said once: "This is Downey, we don't do high class here" or something to that effect.

This is what I found out today:

You would pay per person and the price depends on the food you order and includes non-alcoholic drinks, all linens, all tableware, serving the food and setting up and cleaning up.

You can have the ceremony there. It's $750 for 90 minutes and they knock off $50 if you bring your own minister.

You have 90 minutes for the ceremony and an additional 6 hours for the reception. If you are doing the ceremony and the reception in tandem, you would have to start at 3 pm to have your 90 minutes and your pictures and start the reception at 5 pm because the reception can only go until 11.

They suggest having the ceremony and then moving over to another area of the golf court to have your pictures taken. That would give the waiters time to change the set up from rows of chairs to tables and chairs. It takes them about 10 minutes the woman says. After that's done they announce the bridal party, (I believe she said, I'm not sure that I know what she meant...)
She also suggested ordering hors d'oeuvres in addition to the dinner, so people can munch and mingle while you take pictures and etc, etc. The chairs are covered but they are plastic, I could see that in the pictures so I imagine the tables are plastic also. There is no additional charge for the chair covers.

You can bring your own wine, there's a $5 cork fee.

If you pay for an open bar, the price of drinks is the same as in a restaurant. They suggest paying say, $500, which would pay for 100 to 133 drinks, and then adding to it if necessary. If you want to add a keg of beer to that, it is $230 for domestic and $300 for imported beer.

The woman, Yolanda, suggested that you have an I-forget-what-she-called-it dinner, rather than a buffet, that would make it easier to serve the carnivores and the vegetarians =). She says that she organizes things so that the waiters know who to serve meat dishes and who to serve vegetarian dishes.

If you bring your own cake, which they will receive earlier for you, and make that your dessert, they will cut it and serve it at the tables at no additional cost.

The dance floor is indeed not very big. I think it must about 25 square meters. I don't know how
much dancing you plan to get yourselves up to, but if necessary they will allow you to bring in a rented dance floor. They can recommend a rental place in Downey for you.

Now, June 13 and 20, 2009 are Saturdays and for Saturdays they have a minimum of 150 people ..... if you decided to get married on Sunday, on the other hand, you can do it indoors, they have a nice salon with beautiful floor to ceiling windows overlooking the golf course, a direct double door to the bar and a nice dance wooden floor which they are refinishing now and you can be there until midnight. I don't know if the chairs indoors are plastic also....

There is ample, free parking.

So there you are my dears, I don't know how much money you have budgeted your wedding, but this place seems very reasonable. It is nice, but not high class, for that you have to go to the Rio Hondo Country Club which wants you to pay more that what Walter owes for two college degrees. You know what I didn't ask? I didn't ask about a serving fee, there must be a 20% serving fee and of course there is the 8.25% tax. If you want to see the prices in detail, they are all in their website.

There's still Sundays available in June 09 in the indoor salon and Saturdays in the garden, but I would suggest you make your minds quickly. The woman I talked to is Yolanda and her number is 562-923-9696.

If you want me to ask anything else, let me know, or, of course, feel free to contact Yolanda directly.

I hope you are well, love you much,

Mama
